1973 CHB Flush Deck Trawler
1973 CHB Flush Deck Trawler
This trawler is very unique, as a flush deck trawler, you step out of the salon directly onto the aft deck, with no step up or down. As you can see in the pictures, it’s a spectacular layout for relaxing and entertaining! This unique trawler also has an extended custom built flybridge deck that extends over the aft deck. The extended aft deck appears to have been built well, multiple people can stand on it and it feels firm. The flybridge is large and spacious, and can be used to comfortably entertain family and friends.
The owner has recently done a lot to the boat, including interior and exterior paint, brightwork, electrical, galley remodel (new custom granite counter top, new sink, new faucet, refurbished stove/oven combo), bathroom remodel (new tile, new faucet, new backlit mirror, new paint), floor repair, ceiling paint, cushions recovered, flybridge remodeled, etc. There still are a few key things that need to be addressed, but the bulk of the work has been done. Owner loves the boat, but is willing to let this beauty go for the right price. With a spacious salon, the layout is designed for maximum space. Headed aft, you step out onto the aft deck, with a unique extension that blocks the harsh sun or rain. The aft deck, with good lighting, is large enough for a few chairs to sit and enjoy the beauty the ocean has to offer. The aft deck is also spacious enough to fish and troll comfortably.
Heading forward, you will step into the galley. This layout is the highly desired, single level layout, you will not need to step up and down to walk from the aft deck, to the salon, to the galley. Many boat lovers prefer this single level layout because it is much better for entertaining.
If you know trawlers, you will understand the value in this vessel. Trawlers are a classic design, built to cruise, and to handle local weather. Most trawlers have a ‘Full Displacement’ hull, which increases the boat’s stability through chops and swells, and at anchor. These boats typically cruise at about 7kts to 10kts, depending on weather conditions, but they are one of the most reliable designs. This boat will make a great traveling vessel, or possibly a liveaboard for the right person.
Many experienced boaters prefer older trawlers because they are fairly simple vessels. The systems are typically simple and easy to understand. Basic maintenance is fairly easy to learn and perform by novice boaters. This particular trawler is a very simple vessel, which should make her very reliable with consistent preventative maintenance. This boat should easily get you up and down the coast in comfort and style!
